Nitrate Increases Aluminum Toxicity and Accumulation in Root of Wheat

چکیده

Aluminum (Al) toxicity inhibits root growth, while nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plant growth and development. To explore the effects of nitrate (N) on Al accumulation in wheat, two wheat genotypes, Shengxuan 6 hao (SX6, Al-tolerant genotype) Zhenmai 168 (ZM168, Al-sensitive genotype), were used a hydroponic experiment with four treatments (control without N or Al, N, Al+N, respectively). The results showed that increased inhibition elongation aluminum root. genotype suffered more serious than genotype. Histochemical observation clearly prefers binding apex 7–10 mm zones, accumulated these zones. Compared other treatments, Al+N treatment had significantly higher O2−, superoxides dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) activities, H2O2, Evans blue uptake, malondialdehyde (MDA), ascorbic acid (AsA), pectin, hemicellulose 1 (HC1) contents both genotypes. Under treatment, O2− activity, MDA, HC1 SX6 lower those ZM168, but SOD, CAT, POD activities AsA content exhibited opposite trend. Therefore, seedlings aggravated by nitrate.

Acute Toxicity and Accumulation of Iron, Manganese and, Aluminum in Caspian Kutum Fish (Rutilus kutum)

Background: Iron, manganese, and aluminum are three abundant metals on earth and their concentrations have increased in aquatic environments as a result of natural and industrial activities. This study was undertaken to report the median acute toxicity (LC50) and accumulation of the sub-lethal concentration (10% 96-h LC50) of iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) and aluminum (Al) in kutum (Rutilus kutum) ...

Aluminum Tolerance in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) (I. Uptake and Distribution of Aluminum in Root Apices).

We investigated the uptake and distribution of Al in root apices of near-isogenic wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) lines differing in Al tolerance at a single locus (Alt1: aluminum tolerance). Seedlings were grown in nutrient solution that contained 100 [mu]M Al, and the roots were subsequently stained with hematoxylin, a compound that binds Al in vitro to form a colored complex. Root apices of Al-...

Operationally defined apoplastic and symplastic aluminum fractions in root tips of aluminum-intoxicated wheat.

Knowledge of the mechanistic basis of differential aluminum (Al) tolerance depends, in part, on an improved ability to quantify Al located in the apoplastic and symplastic compartments of the root apex. Using root tips excised from seedlings of an Al-tolerant wheat cultivar (Triticum aestivum L. cv Yecora Rojo) grown in Al solutions for 2 d, we established an operationally defined apoplastic Al...

Depth of nitrogen fertiliser placement affects nitrogen accumulation, translocation and nitrate-nitrogen content in soil of rainfed wheat

A field experiment was conducted to examine the effects of different depths ofnitrogen (N) fertiliser placements on N accumulation, remobilisation and NO3−-Ncontent in soil of rainfed wheat. Nitrogen was applied on the surface (D1) and inthe 10 cm (D2), 20 cm (D3) and 30 cm (D4) soil layers from 2010 to 2012.Compared with D1 and D2, D3 and D4 treatments obtained significant higher Ndistribution...

Aluminum Complexation with Malate within the Root Apoplast Differs between Aluminum Resistant and Sensitive Wheat Lines

In wheat (Triticum aestivum), it is commonly assumed that Al is detoxified by the release of organic anions into the rhizosphere, but it is also possible that detoxification occurs within the apoplast and symplast of the root itself. Using Al-resistant (ET8) and Al-sensitive (ES8) near-isogenic lines of wheat, we utilized traditional and synchrotron-based approaches to provide in situ analyses ...
